In the past, Rand’s art drew on poetry and religious texts. Here, things emerge from a more metaphysical terrain where narrative is often difficult to pinpoint. The work feels inward, searching, and luminous, as if its images were being remembered rather than seen. Rand continues to reinvent figuration through intuition and invention. —J.S.
