Jarvis Art is pleased to announce its inaugural show, Ghost. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Max Werner and will highlight the relationship between the anachronistic genre of landscape painting and more recent developments with the depiction of nature.

As a result of the poignant threat to our natural world and the development of society's relationship with technology, we are arguably losing our capacity for authentic physical experience. Taking this into account, landscape painting can be considered as particularly relevant to the contemporary context.

Through exploring specific geographies, Ghost questions what constitutes landscape painting today. The exhibition addresses wide-ranging subjects including the relationship between the organic and synthetic, decay, geopolitical borders and proposed fantastical spaces.

Although the artists' compositions are largely devoid of human figures, they portray the impact of human behavior on nature. The landscape is represented as a site of conflict and in flux while remaining enchantingly romantic, attesting to the complexities of the contemporary world.
